Microsoft has announced that the
End of Extended Support for Windows 7 POSReady is
October 12, 2021.
Support policy for our products on Windows 7 POSReady beyond October 12, 2021
We provided support across our existing products on Windows 7
POSReady until December 31, 2021. Extended support options are available until December 31, 2023.
Support was provided for the following products on Windows 7
POSReady until December 31, 2021:
- Trellix Agent (TA)
- Application and Change Control (ACC)
- Endpoint Security (ENS)
- ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO)
We will continue to provide support only as long as it is technically and commercially reasonable to do so, and there is no external dependency. For example, we might determine that one of our products requires Microsoft to provide a fix. If Microsoft does not provide the fix, we can't support the product any longer.
Future releases of our products that are released after October 12, 2021 might not support Windows 7
POSReady.
How to purchase extended support after December 31, 2021:
Beginning in January 2022, all customers must purchase an extended support SKU to continue receiving support on the above products. Contact your account manager for more details about this option.
We reserve the right to change the terms of its support policy in this announcement at any time. We endeavor to provide notice of any material changes within a reasonable period, before such changes occur.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
NOTE: The Windows 7 Extended Support framework and pricing apply to Windows 7
POSReady. For details and FAQs, see:
KB91432 - Support for Windows 7/Server 2008/2008 R2 after January 2020
How does support for Windows 7 POSReady differ from the listed support for Windows 7?
For Windows 7
POSReady, we are offering a support plan only for Endpoint Security (ENS), ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO), Trellix Agent (TA), and Application and Change Control (ACC). We will provide the current level of support for these products on Windows 7
POSReady until December 31, 2021 with extended support available until December 31, 2023.
For Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008/2008 R2, we are offering the same support timeline for a larger scope of products. See
KB91432 - Support for Windows 7/Server 2008/2008 R2 after January 2020 for more details.
What is being announced?
Microsoft announced the End of Life (EOL) for Windows 7
POSReady. We plan to support our existing products on Windows 7
POSReady after the EOL date.
Why are you announcing this plan?
We want to provide transparency into support for our existing products on the Windows 7
POSReady operating systems through 2023 because Microsoft announced EOL in October of 2021.
What is your timeline for supporting your products on Windows 7 POSReady?
We provided the current level of support for our existing products on Windows 7
POSReady until December 31, 2021. Extended support is available on select products until December 31, 2023.
What products are included as part of this announcement?
Application and Change Control, Endpoint Security, ePolicy Orchestrator, and Trellix Agent are included as part of this announcement.
What SKUs are impacted?
No SKUs are affected as part of this announcement. All SKUs that are currently sold will continue to be sold unless your account manager tells you otherwise.
What happens to my existing license?
All existing licenses are unaffected by this announcement. All extended support options are provided on top of existing licenses.
Can I still receive Windows 7 POSReady support on products not included in the announcement?
Other products currently supported on these operating systems are subject to our standard EOL policy and might reach their EOL separately of the timelines listed in this announcement.
How will support be handled?
We supported each of the above products in full through December 31, 2021. We will provide extended support until December 31, 2023. Only product versions that are officially designated by us as 'Windows 7
POSReady extended support versions" are eligible to receive extended support on these operating systems from January 1, 2022, to December 31, 2023.
The Windows 7
POSReady extended support versions will receive security fixes, content updates, and case-by-case bug fixes as long as it is technically and commercially viable for us and there is no external dependency. For example, if one of our products requires Microsoft to provide a fix and Microsoft does not provide the fix, then we can't support the product on that operating system any longer.
How does this announcement align with Microsoft's EOL announcement?
See the table below:
Operating System |
Microsoft End of Support |
Our Support Timeline |
Windows 7 POSReady |
October 12, 2021 |
Existing support through December 31, 2021
Extended support until at least December 31, 2023 |
What are the key milestone dates?
The key dates are as follows:
- October 12, 2021: Microsoft is no longer supporting Windows 7 POSReady
- December 31, 2021: End of existing support for out products on Windows 7 POSReady
- December 31, 2023: End of Extended Support for our products on Windows 7 POSReady
Is it possible to get extended support beyond the end of full support?
Yes. Extended support options are available through at least 2023.
How do I obtain extended support?
Work with your account manager to obtain extended support.
Who do I contact if I have other questions?
Contact your account manager if you have other questions.
How will this support be priced?
There will be no change in pricing for your existing licenses. There will also be no added extended support charge until December 31, 2021. Contact your account manager about the pricing of extended support options for support after December 31, 2021.
What options do I have in 2024 and beyond?
We do not expect to support Windows 7
POSReady in 2024 and beyond. We suggest migrating to Windows 10 to continue receiving the latest security features and capabilities.
Why are you no longer providing support for your existing products on Windows 7 POSReady in 2024 and beyond?
We are only able to provide support as long as it is technically and commercially viable for us, and there is no external dependency. For example, if one of our products requires Microsoft to provide a fix and Microsoft does not provide the fix, then we can't support the product on that operating system any longer.
Because Microsoft is no longer supporting Windows 7
POSReady after October 12, 2021, it becomes increasingly hard to maintain support long term without fixes and support from Microsoft.
