Unable to log on to the ePO console (orion.log: missing dependency)

Environment

ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) 5.x

Problem 1

You're unable to log on to the ePO console.

When this issue occurs, the Orion log displays the following with references to missing dependency:

ERROR [Thread-1] plugin.PluginManager - Initialization of plugin AvertAlerts failed.
com.mcafee.orion.core.plugin.depend.DependencyException: Plugin AvertAlerts is missing dependency:scheduler

ERROR [Thread-1] plugin.PluginManager - Initialization of plugin EPOCore failed.
com.mcafee.orion.core.plugin.depend.DependencyException: Plugin EPOCore is missing dependency:scheduler

ERROR [Thread-1] plugin.PluginManager - Initialization of plugin PolicyMgmt failed.

Problem 2

You're unable to log on to the ePO console. The ePO console displays the error plugin excluded from initializing.

When this error occurs, the Orion log displays the following:

At com.mcafee.orion.core.plugin.PluginManager.init(PluginManager.java:249)
At com.mcafee.orion.core.OrionCore.afterStart(OrionCore.java:406)

Cause

The extensions are installed, but are missing the .xml file. By default, these .xml files are located in following path:

C:\Program Files\McAfee\ePolicy Orchestrator\Server\conf\Catalina\localhost

Solution

Restore the missing extension .xml from a backup.

If a backup isn't available, copy the missing .xml extension file from another working ePO server with the same version, update level, and installation path.

NOTE: When the installation paths of both ePO servers are different, modify the installation path of the required .xml file on the destination server.
