Environment

Drive Encryption (DE) 7.x

Problem

Users can't authenticate at the Windows logon prompt after they successfully install the DE client package.

After you press Ctrl+Alt+Del, a blue screen displays for 5–10 minutes. After the delay, the logon options appear again, and the cycle repeats.

The issue is observed at the logon prompt during the following scenarios:

After a system restart
At the Windows lock screen, after you press Ctrl+Alt+Del

Cause

The DE for Windows package contains drivers and other components that have been installed successfully. But, the DE Agent for Windows software package containing the DE service is not installed on the system.

As explained in the Drive Encryption 7.2 Product Guide, the Agent package must also be installed. The following is stated under the section "Check in the DE software packages":

The software package must be checked in to the Master Repository so that you can deploy the software to the client system.

You must check in the MfeEEPC.zip and MfeEEAgent.zip packages.

Solution 1

Check in the Encryption Agent to ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO), and then deploy the DE Encryption Agent for Windows onto the system using ePO.

NOTE: This package doesn't require a system restart, and can be deployed while the system is at the lock screen.
