When EC2 instances remain under
Lost & Found even after you complete a successful CWS sync, take the following actions:
- Verify that a sync has completed. To complete this task, see the related article: KB83815 - Amazon Web Services machines are reporting under Lost & Found (sync not completed).
- Obtain an updated DCC extension. Contact Support for an updated DCC extension (build 5.3.3.70 or later).
After you upgrade the DCC extension, a CWS sync task places the AWS instances in the respective AWS groups.
NOTE: We investigated this issue and a solution is currently available. This solution is currently not generally available, but is in Released to Support (RTS) status. To obtain the RTS build, log on to the ServicePortal and
create a Service Request. Include this article number in the Problem Description field.

Any remaining instances in Lost & Found are expected behavior.
Terminated EC2 instances are
never placed in the ePO system tree. These instances must be removed from the
Lost & Found group as follows:
- Check if the entries in Lost & Found are terminated instances.
- Log on to your AWS console to confirm that the entry is a terminated instance.
- Delete the entry from the Lost & Found group using the ePO Console.
NOTE: The above is expected behavior because these instances would have been created and terminated before the scheduled CWS sync intervals.
