Advanced Threat Defense (ATD) 4.x
Problem
You must activate Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office when you create a VM profile. The operating system and Microsoft Office activation are performed through a web browser connection to the VM's desktop. When you connect to the Advanced Threat Defense (ATD) web management console, a blank screen appears. The status Cause
ATD 4.4 and later impose enhanced security checks and validate web manager access to the activation screen. Certain actions are no longer allowed as part of the enhancement. The validation logic rejects the actions below:
Solution 1
Access to the activation screen from a non-management network interface isn’t supported in ATD 4.4 and later. You must access the ATD web manager from the management network interface of the appliance when you activate the operating system and Microsoft Office.
Solution 2
The validator checks the host part of the URL string that you enter in the browser for opening the manager. When you open the ATD web manager in the management network interface, you must enter the URL string in your browser and satisfy one of the following conditions:
The following results are displayed in the CLI show command: [Appliance Info] System Name : atd129 ..(skip).. [Appliance Network Config] IP Address : 192.168.175.129 ..(skip).. DNS domain : test.local The host name is atd129. The FQDN is atd129.test.local. The IP address of the management network interface is 192.168.175.129. The validator allows access if you enter the URL string in one of the following formats:
Workaround
Technical Support can manually change the validation logic over a remote session as a temporary workaround. This change allows access to the activation screen from a non-management network interface port. The IP address of the non-management Network Interface Card (NIC) must be specified in the browser URL bar. If you need the workaround, contact Technical Support and request for a remote session; include this article number in your request. IMPORTANT:
