This issue is resolved in ENS 10.7.0.
This issue is also resolved in ENS 10.6.1. A utility,
mfeepmpk_utility.exe, is included in the ENS 10.6.1 installation package, to resolve the issue with the faulty driver. When you install or upgrade to ENS 10.6.1, the utility automatically detects whether the endpoint has the faulty driver and replaces it to resolve the issue. If a restart is needed, a prompt displays on the endpoint to perform a one-time restart. The restart must occur for the installation or upgrade to continue. When the faulty driver is replaced, future installations and upgrades don’t require a restart for this issue.
The following restart prompt behavior occurs depending on the installation type:
- For standalone installations, the following restart prompt displays:
Restart required
The McAfee Endpoint Security installer requires a restart to continue the installation.
The following options display:
Restart Now
Restart Later
- For ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO)-managed installations, Trellix Agent displays the following restart prompts.
The following prompt displays for one minute:
Restart required
Restart the computer to complete the update of Endpoint Security Threat Prevention.
The following options display:
Restart
Cancel
If the user takes no action, the following prompt displays until the user does act:
Restart Required
One or more McAfee products were installed and require a system restart.
Press Yes to restart now or press No to restart later.
The following options display:
Yes
No
For third-party deployments, it isn’t possible to display a restart prompt on endpoints. If a restart is needed on an endpoint, the ENS Boostrapper log returns code 16015. The third-party tool you’re using might provide an option to show a restart prompt based on this return code.
