On-demand scan isn't initiating on Linux systems

Environment

Endpoint Security for Linux Threat Prevention (ENSLTP) 10.x
McAfee Agent (MA) 5.7.x

Problem

The default client update task doesn't complete successfully.

The ENSLTP on-demand scan (ODS) can't be initiated.

The errors below are recorded in the macompatsvc_system_name.log file:

cmasvc.Error: Insufficient information about the application DXL _____ 1000.
cmasvc.Error: Manageability client creation failed for the application DXL _____ 1000.
cmasvc.Error: Insufficient information about the application ENDP_GS_1070LYNX.
cmasvc.Error: Manageability client creation failed for the application ENDP_GS_1070LYNX.
plugin.Error: Failed to open the plugin = ENDP_AM_1070LYNX 202
plugin.Error: Failed to initialize the plugin for product id = ENDP_AM_1070LYNX and plugin path = ENDP_AM_1070LYNX.
compatbase.Error: Manageability client initialization failed for the application ENDP_AM_1070LYNX, error = 2003.
cmasvc.Error: Manageability client initialize / start failed for the application ENDP_AM_1070LYNX.
plugin.Error: Failed to open the plugin = ENDP_AM_1070LYNX 202

Cause

MA uses a mfert toolchain library, which is old and retained for compatibility reasons. The library hasn't been updated and the Linux system requires an updated version of the library to function.

Library name: /opt/McAfee/runtime/2.0/lib/libnss_myhostname.so.2

NOTE: The library provides host name resolution for the locally configured system host name.

Solution

If you install systemd-libs.i686.rpm, you need to add the required libraries. The reason is that the libnss_myhostname.so.2 library is needed to solve the dependency problem between MA and systemd-libs.i686.rpm.

Add the missing library using the steps below:

Open a command prompt.
Change the directory using the command below:

cd /opt/McAfee/runtime/2.0/lib
Copy the missing library to the above directory using the following command:

cp libnss_compat-2.5.so libnss_myhostname.so.2
