SIEM Enterprise Security Manager (ESM) 11.x
Summary
The SIEM GUI is composed of dashboards, drop-down lists, pancake menus, and other interface tools that help navigate the GUI. This article addresses an issue where these navigation features don't load properly after an upgrade.
Problem
The SIEM GUI navigation features don't load properly after an upgrade. The following list identifies symptoms that you might see when this issue occurs:
System Change
These symptoms often occur after an ESM upgrade or when there's a UI or API change. The symptoms can also occur when a user changes the environment in which their web browser runs.
Cause
A missing, outdated, or invalid local web browser cache causes this issue. In addition, the SIEM GUI isn't served up to the user through HTTP GETs. The pages aren't rendered through delivery of HTML data to the user session. When a user connects to SIEM for the first time, a local copy of the SIEM GUI is installed in the browser. When connecting to the ESM, all communication with the server is done via SIEM API calls rather than HTTP. It isn't uncommon for the SIEM GUI package to be updated when upgrading the ESM. At the next connection, a new copy of the updated GUI is downloaded to the browser. Sometimes, the GUI isn't updated with the new copy, which causes the GUI to encounter rendering problems. Solution
To correct the issue, perform the following tasks:
