How to install Data Loss Prevention Endpoint Agent on Mac

Install the DLP Endpoint Agent using the Package Installer interface

Transfer the installer package from the ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) server to the Mac system from the following location:

<ePO Installation dir>\db\Software\Current\DLPMACOS9400\Install\0409\DlpAgentInstaller.pkg
Double-click the installer package, DlpAgentInstaller.pkg, and follow the on-screen prompts.

Install the DLP Endpoint Agent using the command line

Transfer the installer package from the ePO server to the Mac system from the following location:

<ePO Install Dir>\db\Software\Current\DLPMACOS9400\Install\0409\DlpAgentInstaller.pkg
Open the terminal console on the client system.
Change the directory to the location of the installer package. For example: cd <full path to installer package>
Run the following command with root permission:

#sudo installer -pkg DlpAgentInstaller.pkg -target /

Install the DLP Endpoint Agent using the command line and generate an installation log file

Transfer the installer package from the ePO server to the Mac system from the following location:

<ePO Install Dir>\db\Software\Current\DLPMACOS9400\Install\0409\DlpAgentInstaller.pkg
Open the terminal console on the client system.
Change the directory to the location of the installer package. For example: cd <full path to installer package>
Type the following command and press Enter:

#sudo installer -verbose -dumplog -pkg DlpAgentInstaller.pkg -target / > /tmp/dlp_install.log 2>&1

The log file is created in /tmp and named dlp_install.log.

Use the MVISION ePO smart installer to create an installation URL

The MVISION DLP Endpoint Agent installation is performed using the MVISION ePO smart installer, and by users using the link shared.

Log on to MVISION ePO as an administrator.
Click Menu, Software, Product Deployment.
Enter a group name and select the Platform type.
In the Endpoint Protection Software, select McAfee Data Loss Prevention.
Under Advanced Options, select Software is automatically updated to the latest version.
Click Save. A dialog appears and displays the installation URL.
Send the deployment link to the users. Also share the instructions for using the link to install MVISION DLP Endpoint on the endpoints.

Install the MVISION-DLP Endpoint Agent using the link sent to users:

As a user, click the link received from the MVISION ePO administrator.

A shell script gets downloaded under: /users/<username>/Downloads
Open a terminal session. The user must be an administrator or have access to sudo to run the installer.
To install McAfee Agent and DLP use the command below:

sudo /users/<username>/Downloads/McAfeeSmartInstall.sh

NOTE: On M1 based computer, you must have Rosetta 2 installed before installation.

Once McAfee Agent is installed, it pulls down and installs the managed products selected in the menu.

NOTES:

The Endpoint Security (ENS) window shows that DLP has been installed.
Activation is only completed once a policy has been successfully applied to the system, and the end node has completed an Agent-to-Server Communication Intervals (ASCI).
