How to change the ePO Client-to-server authenticated communication port

ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) 5.x

Summary

If the ePO Client-to-server authenticated communication port (8444) is in use by another application, modify the port setting in the application configuration.

Solution

CAUTION: This article contains information about opening or modifying the registry.

The following information is intended for System Administrators. Registry modifications are irreversible and could cause system failure if done incorrectly.
Before proceeding, Technical Support strongly recommends that you back up your registry and understand the restore process. For more information, see the Microsoft Windows registry information for advanced users article.
Do not run a REG file that is not confirmed to be a genuine registry import file.

Make sure that all ePO consoles are closed.
Stop the ePO services:
1. Click Start, Run, type services.msc, and click OK.
2. Right-click each of the following services and select Stop:
  - McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator x.x.x Application Server
  - McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator x.x.x Event Parser
  - McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator x.x.x Server
Change the Client-to-server authenticated communication port in the registry:
1. Click Start, Run, type regedit, and click OK.
2. In the registry editor, select the key appropriate for your version:
  
  ePO 5.10.x
  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{E2C3579A-6B3B-40F6-88E8-BE08E78C8D1A}
  
  ePO 5.9.x
  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{6DAACE3A-D62A-43B7-AD10-463FE542DF10}
3. In the right pane, double-click TomcatAuthPort and change the Value data to reflect the needed port number. The default value for this port is 8444.
4. Click OK.
5. Close the registry editor.
Change the Client-to-server authenticated communication port in SQL Server:
1. Click Start, Run, type notepad, and click OK.
2. Paste the following lines into a blank document. Change 8444 to the new port number:
  
  UPDATE EPOServerInfo
  SET SensorSecureHttpPort =8444
3. Name the file TomcatAuthPort.SQL and save it to a temporary location on the SQL Server.
4. Open a command prompt session on the SQL Server and use the following syntax to run TomcatAuthPort.SQL. The command is case sensitive:
  
  OSQL -d <Database_Name> -S <Server_Name>\<Instance_Name> -E -i <PATH>\<SQL_Script_File_Name>
  
  Where:
  - <Database_Name> - Is the ePO database name
  - <Server_Name>\<Instance_Name> - Is the SQL Server name and instance name
  - <PATH> - Is the path to the folder containing the .SQL file
  - <SQL_Script_File_Name> - is the name of the .SQL file created
    
    Example: ePO database name is MANAGE. SQL Server name is MANAGE. The SQL Server instance name is EPOSERVER. Script name is TomcatAuthPort.SQL. Temporary folder is C:\TEMP, then the command would be:
    
    OSQL -d ePO_MANAGE -S MANAGE\EPOSERVER -E -i c:\TEMP\TomcatAuthPort.SQL
5. Close the command prompt.
Change the Client-to-server authenticated communication port in the server.xml file:
1. Click Start, Run, type explorer, and click OK.
2. Navigate to the following directory:
  
  64-bit path: \Program Files (x86)\McAfee\ePolicy Orchestrator\Server\conf\
  32-bit path: \Program Files\McAfee\ePolicy Orchestrator\Server\conf\
3. Open server.xml in Notepad and replace all entries for port 8444 with the new port number.
Start the ePO services:
1. Click Start, Run, type services.msc, and click OK.
2. Right-click each of the following services and click Start:
  - McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator x.x.x Application Server
  - McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator x.x.x Event Parser
  - McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator x.x.x Server
