ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) 5.x

Problem

The Pull Task fails.

The epoapsvr.log records errors similar to the following:

NOTE: The file mentioned in the title of this article, and in the log above, is just an example. The Master Repository pull can fail with a different file.

Cause

The Firewall or Proxy has been configured to block one of the required files.

In this example, it is the extension .chm, but it can apply to other extensions.

Solution 1

Edit the Firewall or Proxy settings, and allow this type of file to be downloaded:

Perform the following and verify that the firewall is causing the problem. Review the appropriate product log and use the link reported as failed:
1. Open the epoapsvr.log for ePolicy Orchestrator.
2. Locate the following error message and identify the extension that fails to be downloaded:
  
  Verify file <file_name> size and hash failed, hr=-111 size and hash failed, hr=-111
3. Locate and copy the https:// string that is downloading the file with the failing extension (in this example, Vse0401.chm):
  
  https://update.nai.com:80/Products/CommonUpdater/Current/VIRUSCAN8600/LangPack/0000/Vse0401.chm
4. Open Internet Explorer and paste the URL from the log file.
  
  If the Firewall /Proxy blocks this extension, you see an error message confirming the cause.
Try a Repository Pull again.

Solution 2

Purge the caches and temp files:

If a Proxy Server is being used, access the Proxy Server and delete the Proxy Cache.
Access the ePO Server and delete the contents of the Windows temp folder.
Clear ePO Server internet files:
1. Open Windows Internet Explorer.
2. Click Tools, Internet Options.
3. Under Temporary Internet Files, click Delete Files.
4. Click OK.
Try a Repository Pull again.

Solution 3

Delete the faulting package from the ePO Repository.

If the problem persists, delete the broken file from the Repository:

Identify the faulting file (ZIP).
Example: If the pull fails on DAT5302.zip, delete DAT5301 from the Repository.
Try a Repository Pull again.

If the pull still does not work, download the package directly from the Security Downloads.
