Unable to get tenancy details for the user (when linking an ePO on-premises to MVISION ePO account)

ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) 5.x
MVISION ePO Migration extension

Problem

When you try to migrate from ePO on-premises to MVISION ePO within the MVISION ePO Migration page, you see the error below:

Unable to get tenancy details for the user. Try again to link MVISION ePO Account

NOTE: This issue occurs even when you use the MVISION ePO administrator account. The administrator account can successfully log on the MVISION ePO console.

The Orion.log records the following errors:

ERROR [core-CommandInvoker-thread-9] service.FetchTokenService - Error occurred while fetching tenancy details for user_name: <user_name>
java.lang.Exception: Unable to get HTTPs Connection
..
Caused by: java.lang.Exception: Unable to get HTTPs Connection
..
Caused by: java.net.MalformedURLException: no protocol: null/users/<user_name>/groups

Cause

A URL is missing in an ePO database table that's used by the migration extension.

When you run the SQL query below against the ePO database, you can expect to see three separate lines. (For help, see KB67591 - How to run a SQL script provided by Technical Support against the ePolicy Orchestrator database):

SELECT * from OrionServerPropertiesMT WHERE [key] like '%.url%'

If just one of the URLs listed below is missing, it can cause an issue when trying to link an MVISION account.

IMPORTANT: If all the above three URLs are returned, you do not have the issue described in this article.

Solution

Remove the MVISION ePO Migration extension.

Log on to the ePO console
Navigate to Menu, Software, Extensions, ePolicy Orchestrator.
Reinstall the MVISION ePO Migration extension.

NOTE: The extension can also be installed through the ePO Software Catalog. The Migration extension is located under the ePO product.

With no account linked, there's no existing configuration that can be lost when you remove the current MVISION ePO Migration extension.
