The DLP Endpoint
Printer Protection rule manages network, local, and image printers.
DLP identifies image printers as two different categories.
- Image Printers:
- Microsoft Print to PDF
- Microsoft XPS Document Writer
- Send to OneNote
- Local Printers:
- Microsoft Print to PDF (Redirected)
- Microsoft XPS Document Writer (Redirected)
- Send to OneNote (Redirected)
- OneNote (Redirected)
- OneNote
NOTE: When a system is remotely connected, the printers configured on the base system are listed as Redirected.
To exclude
Microsoft Print to PDF,
Microsoft XPS Document Writer, and
Send to OneNote from the printer protection rules, do the following:
- Log on to the ePO console.
- Click Menu, Data Protection, DLP Policy Manager.
- Open the Ruleset and Printer protection rule.
- Click the Exceptions tab.
- Click Action, Add Rule Exception.
- Type the name of the exception (for example, Image Printer Exclusion).
- Select any image printer for Printers.
- Save the rule and Apply the policy.
To exclude
Microsoft Print to PDF (Redirected),
Microsoft XPS Document Writer (Redirected),
Send to OneNote (Redirected),
OneNote (Redirected), and
OneNote from the printer protection rules, do the following:
- Log on to the ePO console.
- Click Menu, Data Protection, DLP Policy Manager.
- Open the Ruleset and Printer protection rule.
- Click the Exceptions tab.
- Click Action, Add Rule Exception.
- Enter the name of the exception (for example, Image Printer Exclusion).
- Select any local printer for Printers.
- Save the rule and Apply the policy.
