Allowing direct connections to streaming or update sites

Environment

Skyhigh Client Proxy (SCP)

Problem

SCP slows or blocks videos from major streaming services or updates from major software providers.

Because of current home working patterns, you might want to modify your SCP configuration to allow the viewing of streaming video sites and software updates.

This article describes how to configure SCP to allow direct connections to major media streaming and software update sites.

Solution

ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO)

Open the ePO Manager.
Click Policy, Common Catalog.

Edit your existing catalogs and add the following domains to each catalog.

NOTE: If you can't edit existing examples, add new catalogs as needed.

Site/streaming service	Domain
Amazon Video	aiv-cdn.net aiv-cdn.net.c.footprint.net aiv-delivery.net amazonvideo.com atv-ext.amazon.com atv-ps.amazon.com d25xi40x97liuc.cloudfront.net dmqdd6hw24ucf.cloudfront.net media-amazon.com primevideo.com
YouTube	youtube.com youtu.be ytimg.com googlevideo.com
netflix.com	nflxvideo.net netflix.com
Microsoft Office Update CDN	officecdn.microsoft.com.edgesuite.net
Apple Software Update CDN	swcdn.apple.com
Blizzard Update CDN	level3.blizzard.com

For example:

In your SCP policy, click Policy Catalog, McAfee Client Proxy <version>.
Configure the Bypass List to use the entries:
Click Domain and then select all entries from the list.

NOTE: This action imports the entries into the SCP catalog.
Save the policy and allow all clients to receive the new policy.
