This article provides basic information about collecting data for troubleshooting the following ENS for Storage issues:
- ENS for Storage fails to install
- ENS for Storage unable to connect to filer
- Slow application performance
- Users denied access to files on the filer
- ENS for Storage service crash
The following sections describe what data to collect for each type of issue. For all reported incidents, always collect the following information:
- Protocol used by the filer - Either NetApp or ICAP
NOTE: If NetApp, indicate whether it's 7-mode or 8-mode
- Model of the filer
- Operating system version used by the filer
- Installed version of ENS for Storage
- Installed version of ENS
Depending on the issue, the following tools might be required:
- ENS for Storage Debug Logging
- ENS for Storage debug logging can be enabled or disabled using the ENS Common Options policy
- Edit the policy assigned to the ENS for Storage scanners
- Scroll down to the "Client Logging" field
- Under Debug Logging, place a check mark next to "Enable for Storage Protection"
NOTE: Always disable debug logging once the data capture is complete. Leaving debug logging for ENS for Storage enabled increases the average request times, and can poentially introduce a performance impact.
