Drive Encryption (DE) 7.x Japanese operating system (Japanese keyboard) Problem
Users are unable to authenticate at preboot after successfully installing DE and encrypting the hard disk. The Japanese Yen (¥) character in Windows doesn't correspond to the Japanese Yen (¥) character in preboot authentication (PBA) under the following conditions:
Cause
Using a Japanese keyboard (Japanese locale operating system), the Yen key (¥) inserts a different character in preboot, and then in Windows.
Solution
During preboot authentication, the user must press the backslash key (\) when the Yen (¥) character is required to be entered in the password.
