Long delays when you open the Task Ownership page for any client task
Technical Articles ID:
KB89203
Last Modified: 2023-07-20 09:29:17 Etc/GMT Environment
ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) 5.10.x, 5.9.x
Problem
When you try to open the Task Ownership page for any client task, it takes 20 or 30 minutes for the page to fully open. When the Task Ownership page loads, the administrator expects to see a list of available ePO users. But, sometimes, where there are many Windows Authenticated users, such as 1,000 users, the page can take up to 30 minutes to fully display the list of users. This delay is more noticeable when the Task Ownership page is accessed by following the steps below:
Cause
The delay occurs because ePO performs a recursive search for each user to obtain group information for all groups of which the user is a member. The more complex and deeply nested the Active Directory (AD) structure is, the longer the delay.
Solution
Starting with ePO 5.9.1, a new search parameter is added to speed up the user search performed when you open the Task Ownership page. With the parameter, it's now possible to configure ePO to search only the direct groups where users are members. As a result, ePO now skips the recursive search and improves the time it takes to perform the user search. Configure ePO to use a direct search instead of a recursive search:
