Add an exclusion for the Time Machine process (backupd) to the Removable Storage Protection rule:
- Open the DLP Policy Manager in ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO).
- Select the Definitions tab and click Application Template.
- Click Actions, New.
- Name the new definition and leave the Process Strategy as Editor.
- Change the Applies To option to Mac OS X Applications.
- Select Executable File Name from the Available Properties on the left.
- Add backupd to the Value field and leave the Comparison as Equals.
- Save your definition.
Add your definition as an exception to your Removable Storage Protection rule:
- Open the Removable Storage Protection rule that's assigned to your OS X system.
- Click the Exceptions tab.
- Click Actions, Add Rule Exception.
- Name the new Rule Exception.
- Change the State to Enabled.
- Change the Classification to is Any Data.
- Change the Application to is one of Application.
- Click the Ellipses (...) button and select the Application Definition that you created.
- Click Save and Apply your policy.
