User token is reset when a User Directory user is unassigned and re-assigned on a system
Technical Articles ID:
KB88677
Last Modified: 2023-04-25 11:33:17 Etc/GMT Environment
Drive Encryption (DE) 7.x For details of DE-supported environments, see KB79422 - Supported platforms for Drive Encryption 7.x. Summary
User Directory background details DE provides support for user management using the User Directory feature to remove the dependency on an LDAP server. The User Directory feature uses the LDAP Sync extension within ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) and provides user management for DE users using the Problem
After unassigning a user that migrated from a previous Endpoint Encryption Manager using the DE User Directory feature from all DE systems, and then re-assigning the user to a system, you find that the User token is reset, even though the user remains in the User Directory.
Solution
This is expected behavior. When the user is unassigned from all systems, it's no longer a valid DE user. When the user is assigned back to a DE system, DE treats it as a new user and the default token is applied (password is reset).
