Summary

MNE supports Windows To Go, a feature in Windows 8 Enterprise and later. The feature allows these Windows versions to boot and run from mass storage devices such as USB drives and external hard disk drives.

MNE supports Windows To Go with the following requirements:

It's created only on USB devices officially supported by Microsoft for Windows to Go.
The device is either factory shipped, or created by using the Windows To Go workspace application. The app comes by default with Windows 8.x and Windows 10 releases.

NOTE: When you use MNE to manage BitLocker, a pre-operating system boot password is used for security, rather than the Trusted Platform Module (TPM). The reason is because TPM is tied to a specific computer where Windows To Go drives can move between computers. For more details, see this Microsoft article.

IMPORTANT: MNE does not support Windows to Go when the following conditions are met:

It's created by any third-party tool
It's created by any method other than the ones in the preceding list
