Environment

Files and Removable Media Protection (FRP) 5.x

Problem

When you try to copy files to nested directories, the following error is displayed:

McAfee Endpoint Encryption Error

The system cannot find the path specified.

Cause

The total number of characters making up the nested directories exceeds the Windows character count limitation of 248.

NOTE: There's a known limitation with Windows and FRP. This limitation reduces the limit by one extra character, which the FRP driver truncates.

Solution

This behavior is expected with the current release. To request that a Windows error is displayed instead of an FRP error, submit a product idea.

To submit a new product idea, go to the Enterprise Customer Product Ideas page.

Click Sign In and enter your ServicePortal User ID and password. If you do not yet have a ServicePortal or Community account, click Register to register for a new account on either website.
