How to anonymize entries in the Skyhigh Web Gateway access.log file

Skyhigh Web Gateway (SWG)

This article explains how you can anonymize parts of your log files in SWG. These parts include the username and source IP address.

To anonymize the source IP address and username:

Repeat step 3 for the property Authentication.UserName.
Open your access.log container settings (Policy, Settings, File System Logging).
Set the first and second passwords (if needed).
Save your changes.

You now see two new fields in your access.log, enclosed by <anonymous>.

To de-anonymize, use /opt/mwg/bin/LogFileDecrypter:

/opt/mwg/bin/LogFileDecrypter --deanonymize /opt/mwg/log/user-defined-logs/access.log/access.log > access_deanonymized.log
