ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) 5.x

Problem

ePO Agent Wakeup Call doesn't work.

You're unable to ping client workstations by computer name in ePO.

Cause

The ePO Agent Wakeup Call uses DNS to resolve computer names. If DNS isn't set up properly or is unavailable, the Agent Wakeup Call fails.

Solution

If any DNS issues can't be resolved, an alternative method to accomplish an Agent Wakeup Call is to create a batch file that uses the CmdAgent.exe command.

CmdAgent.exe is a command-line executable that sends commands to the service for the McAfee Agent. This utility is designed for use in special cases to remotely control agent activity. It can be used when the administrator wants an agent to contact the server immediately after the user logs in on the agent computer. It can be executed on the client computer using a logon script.

The currently supported commands include the following:

Collect and Send properties and events ( /p )
Enforce policies ( /e )
Check for new policies/tasks ( /c )
