masvc.exe system crash when loading the proxy configuration

Environment

McAfee Agent (MA) 5.6.3 - 5.6.5

Problem

The masvc.exe service crashes when you try to load policy-based proxy configuration options. This issue is seen when no users are logged on to the client. For example, during a scheduled update task on a server.

NOTE: The issue does not occur if the proxy configuration for the MA Repository policy is set to Do not use a proxy.

Cause

A null string is passed to an internal component that is responsible for parsing proxy configurations. The null string is what causes masvc.exe to crash.

Solution

The Issue is resolved in McAfee Agent 5.6.6

Workaround

Set the MA Repository Proxy configuration to Do not use a proxy.
