32-bit applications crash due to faulting module clr.dll after you install the ENS ATP 10.7 September 2023 Update.

NOTE: We've also observed some instances of the 64-bit Microsoft Management Console (MMC) crashing. These are currently under investigation.

Problem

The following error can be seen in the Windows Event Log following the application crash:

The process was terminated due to an internal error in the .NET Runtime at IP 7087862F (70840000) with exit code 80131506.

Example of Outlook application crashing:

Solution

This issue is resolved in the ENS 10.7 May 2024 Update.

Workaround

Disable the option Enable Enhanced Script Scanning (includes AMSI) found within the ENS ATP Options policy.
