Application Control isn't able to communicate with the GTI server

Environment

Application and Change Control 8.x, 7.x, 6.x

Problem

The SSL certificate for the GTI Server used by Application Control has expired, which impacts communication with the GTI Server.

In orion.log on the ePO server, the following error message keeps appearing:

ERROR [scheduler-InternalTask-thread-10] service.GTIReputationServiceImpl - Error occurred while sending hashes to GTI server
com.mcafee.scor.cloud.CloudException: An error in communication with the cloud

The stderr.log may also rapidly grow in size.

Solution

To resolve this issue, a new certificate must be used to continue communication.

To install the new certificate using ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO), perform the following steps:

Download the new certificate file attached to this article.
Extract the ZIP package.
Open the ePO console.
Navigate to the Registered Server page.
From the given options, select Trellix GTI Server.
Click Actions and select Edit.
Click Next to continue to the second page of the Registered Server Builder.
Click Server Address and update the existing address with https://solidcore.rest.gti.trellix.com/1.
Toggle the Change Certificate box.
Click Browse and select the extracted CER file.
Check the test connection. It should be a PASS.
Save the changes.
