Summary
Description of Campaign The BluStealer malware, first identified in early 2021, has resurfaced with additional features and evasion techniques. The malware is based on code reuse from the SpyEx project and appears to be continually maintained and updated. Recent modifications continue to use process hollowing, but partly change the API calls to a direct syscall. This evasion technique is thought to confuse and bypass security checks performed by security products. In addition to detection evasion techniques, BluStealer has added more web browsers that it can steal credentials from and crypto wallets that it can steal keys from. Our ATR Team gathers and analyzes information from multiple open and closed sources before disseminating intelligence reports. This campaign was researched by Minerva Labs and shared publicly.
