Failed to deliver the bounce email (bounced back emails are blocked)

Problem

Bounced back Exchange emails are blocked.

You see the error below in the bounced email:

Failed to deliver the bounce email.

You see this issue even after the email ID is added as an exclusion in the Prevent email policy.

Cause

When an email rebounds, it's returned with the email ID, for example: postmaster@abc.com.

The DLP Prevent appliance uses the Mail attribute From:<>, which pertains to the sender User Suser=<>.

For rebounded emails, the DLP Prevent appliance adds the header only if the Mail attribute From is being reported from the Exchange server. The sender User attribute isn't reported.

Solution

This behavior is expected. The rebounded emails don't report back the Mail From (sender) attribute, so it takes no action.
