The CLS is a logical upgrade to the VirusScan Command Line Scanner (VSCL). The CLS is a program that you can run from a command-line prompt. The CLS provides an alternative to scanners that use a graphical user interface (GUI). The evaluation copies of the software for a free trial period are available from the Free Security Trials webpage. The licensed version of the software is available from the Product Downloads site.

The CLS consumes the latest Anti-Malware Scan Engine 6600. For information about the Scan Engine, see KB66741 - About the 6.x.xx Anti-Malware Scan Engine. The CLS supports both the DAT contents – V2 and MED, with continuation to support the bigger AVV DATs.
