Microsoft updated its
Microsoft EM (Intune) solution on January 16, 2020. Among the updates and enhancements, Microsoft has added support for Mobile Security for Mobile Device Management (MDM) integration and as a Mobile Application Management (MAM) connector. This update allows the mobile administrator to select Mobile Security from a list of mobile security options when configuring
Microsoft EM (Intune). It also allows Microsoft to designate Mobile Security as a trusted application so that it can be deployed to unmanaged Android or iOS devices.
On February 2, 2021, we upgraded to console version 4.28.14, which supports the MAM connector in
Microsoft EM (Intune). With this update, Mobile Security is supported for the MDM and MAM use cases described above.
Mobile Security Support for Microsoft EM (Intune) MAM:
Mobile Security console version 4.28.14 supports McAfee as a MAM connector. To enable this functionality, you must first upgrade your Mobile Security console to version 4.28.14. In the
Microsoft EM (Intune) console, you can then select Mobile Security as your connector option.
Below are the app requirements for
Microsoft EM (Intune) MAM support:
- Mobile Security Android 4.14 or later
- Mobile Security iOS 4.16 or later
Mobile Security Support for Microsoft EM (Intune) MDM:
Microsoft supports only a single Mobile Threat Defense (MTD) connector, for example,
Zimperium or McAfee, configured within
Microsoft EM (Intune). Consider the following three scenarios for Mobile Security support for
Microsoft EM (Intune) MDM:
- Customers setting up new Microsoft EM (Intune) MDM integrations before the Mobile Security console upgrade to version 4.28.14: Customers who set up new integrations to Microsoft EM (Intune) MDM should continue to use the Zimperium connector in Microsoft EM (Intune) until the Mobile Security console is updated to version 4.28.14.
- Customers setting up new Microsoft EM (Intune) MDM integrations after the Mobile Security console has been upgraded to version 4.28.14: Any new Microsoft EM (Intune) integration setup in the version 4.28.14 console communicates with the McAfee connector in Microsoft EM (Intune) and requires the selection of the McAfee connector in the Microsoft EM (Intune) console.
- Customers with an existing Zimperium integration to Microsoft EM (Intune) MDM: Customers using the existing Zimperium connector with Microsoft EM (Intune) MDM continue to function without any customer involvement needed after the upgrade to the version 4.28.14 console.
NOTE: The following warning has been added to the latest
Mobile Security Microsoft EM (Intune) Integration Guide:
Warning: If you configured a Microsoft Endpoint Manager integration in the MVISION Mobile console before the 4.28.14 release, then that integration is using the
Zimperium connector in Microsoft Endpoint Manager. If you migrate from t
he Zimperium connector to the MVISION connector, active devices change from "Pending Activation" status to "Active" the next time the device checks-in with the MVISION Mobile console.
Configuring any new Microsoft Endpoint Manager integration in MVISION Mobile Console release 4.28.14 or later, sets up the integration to use the MVISION connector in Microsoft Endpoint Manager.
Below are the app requirements for
Microsoft EM (Intune) MDM support:
- Mobile Security Android 4.14 or later
- Mobile Security iOS 4.14 or later
