You can remove SME from the Control Panel, Programs and Features, Uninstall a program console. In this method, the quarantine database is retained by default.
- Remove the antispam module.
- Remove SME.
- Remove SME from the Control Panel:
- Go to the Control Panel, Programs and Features, Uninstall a program console. In this method, the quarantine database is retained by default. To delete the quarantine database, use step 3.
- Remove SME from ePO:
- In this method, the program data registry plug-in entry and shared dll's will remain on the server. You can use step 3 to delete the same.
- Remove SME using the installation file:
- In the folder containing the installation files, double-click setup_x64.exe.
- On the Welcome screen, click Next.
- On the Program Maintenance screen, select Remove, and click Next.
- The Preserve Settings screen appears.
- On the Preserve Settings screen, select Preserve quarantine database to retain the quarantine database, and click Next.
- The Remove the program screen appears.
- On the Remove the program screen, click Remove to uninstall SME from your Exchange server.
- The InstallShield wizard Completed screen appears.
- Click Finish.
- Remove the unwanted files: Some dependent files might still exist on the server. Those files must be manually removed after you reboot the server.

- Registry key (Regkey) for plug-in SME 8.6:
- Open Registry and navigate to KHLM\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Network Associates\ePolicy Orchestrator\Application Plugin.
- Take a backup and remove the keys with SME (Example: MSME_8600).
