Environment

ePOlicy Orchestrator (ePO) 5.10.x, 5.9.x

Problem

When you try to install ePO, the installation fails and rolls back.

You see error messages similar to the following in EPO590-Install-MSI.LOG (for ePO 5.9.x) or EPO5100-Install-MSI.LOG (for ePO 5.10.x):

CustomAction +sitemanager64.dll returned actual error code -2147024770 (note this may not be 100% accurate if translation happened inside sandbox)
Error 1904.Module D:\Program Files (x86)\McAfee\ePolicy Orchestrator\SiteManager64.dll failed to register. HRESULT -2147024770. Contact your support personnel.

Cause

This problem occurs because one or more of the Visual C++ components that ePO needs are missing or damaged. The ePO installer is unable to register DLLs with the operating system.

Solution

To resolve this issue, reinstall all Visual C++ components that are included with the ePO installation files:

Extract the ePO installation files to a temporary folder.
To reinstall the Visual C++ components, right-click each of the following, and click Run As Administrator:

IMPORTANT: You must reinstall both the 32-bit (vc_redist.x86.exe) and 64-bit (vc_redist.x64.exe) versions, even if your operating system is 64-bit.

For ePO 5.10.x:
