The URL DB version isn't displayed until the first incremental DB update has occurred

Environment

Security for Microsoft Exchange (SME) 8.7.0

Problem

The URL DB version isn't displayed in the SME 8.7.0 user interface until the first incremental DB update has completed.

Cause

SME uses Trusted Source for downloading and obtaining information regarding the URL database.

According to the Trusted Source design, the version information is only displayed after an incremental update.

Solution

To display the URL DB version in SME 8.7:

Before proceeding, Technical Support strongly recommends that you back up your registry and understand the restore process. For more information, see the Microsoft Windows registry information for advanced users article.
Do not run a REG file that is not confirmed to be a genuine registry import file.

Install SME 8.7 and open the user interface.
Under Settings and Diagnostics, select the option Proxy Settings.
Save the changes.
Open the registry.
Navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\McAfee\MSME\SystemState
Verify that the following is present and set to Default:

URLCacheDBVersion
In the Policy Manage, enable the option Mail URL Reputation.
Click the URL DB option, and verify the product log entry.

The full DB update shows as started, and the update as completed.
The product log entry would display the same.
To have the URL DB version displayed in the user interface, you need to start the update URL DB again.
1. Click the URL DB option. The incremental DB download starts.
2. Verify the product log entry.
  
  Upon completion of the incremental DB download, the registry URLCacheDBVersion is updated.
  The URL DB version is displayed in the user interface.
