Environment

Endpoint Security (ENS) 10.7.0, 10.6.1 December 2019 Update

Problem

On servers, during an on-demand scan (ODS) of many files, a memory leak can occur. The memory leak eventually leads to the system running out of resources and hanging. After a reboot, the system operates normally.

Cause

ENS 10.6.1 December 2019 Update and 10.7.0 introduced a memory leak with ODS. Many ODSs run on a server with many files could see a significant amount of handles left open on the System process. This issue leads to memory exhaustion and an eventual system hang.

Solution

The issue is resolved in ENS 10.6.1 February 2020 Update and ENS 10.7.0 February 2020 Update.
