Standard User prompted for admin credentials when changing settings in Endpoint Security Client
Technical Articles ID:
KB92432
Last Modified: 2/7/2023 Environment
Endpoint Security (ENS) 10.7.0 February 2020 Update, 10.6.1 February 2020 Update
Problem
When you upgrade to ENS 10.6.1 February 2020 Update or ENS 10.7.0 February 2020 Update, and a Standard User tries to change the ENS settings within the ENS Client, a message for administrator credentials displays. Even after you enter correct credentials, the changes can't be saved. The ENS Platform Errors Log contains the following errors: "bl_error": 0, "data": { "path": "C:\\ProgramData\\McAfee Endpoint Security Logs", "permissions": { "write": false, "read": true, "execute": true } } } Error |MFEConsole |MFEConsole | 6416| 20960|MFEConsole |mfeux_extension.cpp(1492) | askForCredentials ( [\{"message":"Please provide administrator credentials."}]) : operation returned non-success: 1223 Error |MFEConsole |MFEConsole | 6416| 20960|MFEConsole |mfeux_extension.cpp(1492) | { "bl_error": 1223, "data": { "cancelled": true } } Solution
This issue is resolved in ENS 10.6.1 April 2020 Update and ENS 10.7.0 April 2020 Update. Our product software, upgrades, maintenance releases, and documentation are available on the Product Downloads site.
NOTE: You need a valid Grant Number for access. See KB56057 - How to download product updates and documentation for more information about the Product Downloads site, and alternate locations for some products. Workaround
