Prerequisites:
- Physical access to the NTBA appliance
- A CentOS 6 host with Linux 2.6 version
- A USB drive, formatted using the ext3 filesystem
- The following files from the Product Downloads site:
- NTBA recovery image (build 9.1.3.15)
- create_ntba_usb.sh shell script or create_ntba_usb_248MB.sh
NOTE: If you have a USB drive larger than 2 GB, use the script create_ntba_usb.sh. If you have a 2-GB USB drive, use the script create_ntba_usb_248MB.sh.
To image the USB drive, perform the steps below:
- Place the recovery image and the create_ntba_usb.sh shell script on the CentOS 6 host.
- Plug the USB drive into the CentOS host.
- View the mount point of the USB:
Type df -h and press Enter.
For example, the USB drive might be mounted on /dev/sdb1.
- Unmount the USB drive:
Type umount <drive location> and press Enter.
For example, umount /dev/sdb1
- Format the USB drive using the ext3 filesystem.
Type mkfs -t ext3 -v -L usbdisk <drive location> and press Enter.
For example, mkfs -t ext3 -v -L usbdisk /dev/sdb1
- Format the drive with an inode size of 128:
Type /sbin/mke2fs -L / -I 128 -F -j -O dir_index <drive location> and press Enter.
For example, /sbin/mke2fs -L / -I 128 -F -j -O dir_index /dev/sdb1
- Verify that the inode size is 128:
Type tune2fs -l <drive location> | grep 'Inode size' and press Enter.
For example, tune2fs -l /dev/sdb1 | grep 'Inode size'
- Create a bootable USB by running the create_ntba_usb.sh shell script or create_ntba_usb_248MB.sh:
Type /bin/bash -x <script name> <NTBA Image name> <USB Drive Name> and press Enter.
For example, /bin/bash -x create_ntba_usb.sh ntbasensorImage.T-1200_opt_usb.iso /dev/sdb
NOTE: In the second input parameter to the script, skip 1 from the drive name. It's sufficient to provide only /dev/sdb. The script appends 1 to the USB drive name.
- If execution of the script is successful, you see the following message:
USB bootable NTBA image is ready. Plug out the USB and insert it to NTBA for installation.
To install or reimage the NTBA appliance using the USB drive, perform the steps below:
- Plug the formatted USB drive into the NTBA appliance.
- Turn on the NTBA appliance.
- To enter the boot options, press F6.
- Select USB as the bootable media, and then press Enter. The NTBA appliance boots from the USB. The NTBA logon prompt is displayed.
- Log on to NTBA using the default username and password:
- Username: admin
- Password: admin123
- Reinstall the NTBA software to the appliance: Type installntba and press Enter.
- After the installation is complete, remove the USB drive and reboot the NTBA appliance. The NTBA appliance software is the same as the bootable USB image.
- Configure the NTBA details and establish trust with the Manager by running the setup command.
NOTES:
- See your product documentation for more information about this process.
- The NTBA appliance takes a longer time to boot the first time.
- The NTBA software version is 9.1.3.15. Use only this version for NTBA recovery.
We strongly recommend that you immediately upgrade to NTBA 9.1.3.20 or later.
