Unable to delete a tag in the Deployment Tags group, even though no fixed deployment project is present

When you create a fixed deployment, a tag is created in the Deployment Tags group of the ePO Tag Catalog and it can't be deleted.

You observe the following if you create a fixed deployment, but later edit that deployment to make it a continuous deployment:

This issue is resolved in ePolicy Orchestrator 5.10.0 Update 7, which is available from the Product Downloads site.

For ePO on-premises customers only:

Step 1 - Run the following query. Confirm that it identifies the tags you want to delete and no others:

Click Start, Programs, Microsoft SQL Server, Query Analyzer.
Connect to the SQL Server.
Open a query window, and select the ePO database. For instructions, see KB67591 - How to run a SQL script provided by Technical Support against the ePolicy Orchestrator database.
Paste the following into the query window:

select T.TagID, T.[Name] from EPOTag T
join EPOTagGroupMT G on T.TagGroupID = G.TagGroupID
left join EPODeploymentTagMT D on T.TagID = D.TagID
where D.TagID IS NULL
AND G.GroupName = 'Deployment Tags'
Click Execute Query.

Step 2 - If the query above identifies the tags that you want to remove, run the following query to delete them:
