A long-running epo_post_upgrade_async_task query is left open to the SQL Server after upgrading to ePO 5.9.x or 5.10

Environment

ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) 5.10.0 (including Updates 1–4), 5.9.1

Problem

When the ePO services are restarted, the following query is executed to verify whether the post-upgrade reindexing steps have been completed.

In some scenarios, the query never exits and remains in a sleeping state indefinitely. This problem can cause the SQL TempDB database to grow until the SPID responsible for the following select statement is killed:

SELECT AutoID,CommandName,CommandURI FROM [dbo].[_epo_post_upgrade_async_task] WHERE Processed=0 ORDER BY AutoID

System Change

You upgraded to either ePO 5.9.1 or 5.10.0.

Solution

This issue is resolved in ePolicy Orchestrator 5.10.0 Update 5, which is available from the Product Downloads site.
