Environment

ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) 5.x

Problem

After completing a Disaster Recovery Snapshot restore of ePO, access to the console fails with an error message similar to the following:

This site can't be reached: The webpage at https://localhost:8443/core/orionSplashScreen.do might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.
ERR_CONTENT_DECODING_FAILED

Cause

The Disaster Recovery Snapshot feature only backs up the most critical files and folder locations needed for ePO Server restoration, as described in KB87976 - Overview of the ePolicy Orchestrator 5.x Disaster Recovery Snapshot feature.

If any JRE/Java hotfixes are applied to the ePO server being restored, these changes are not carried over to the restored copy. The Disaster Recovery Snapshot action can result in the problem described in this article.

Solution

You must reapply any previously applied cumulative update after you complete the Disaster Recovery Snapshot restore process.
