Use the following tips and tools to ensure a smooth upgrade to on-premises ePO 5.10.
Why upgrade to ePO 5.10 on-premises?
Our recommendation is to always upgrade to the latest version available because it includes up-to-date features and fixes. If you haven't yet decided which version to upgrade to, consider the following aspects in ePO 5.10. The details below help ensure the best upgrade experience possible:
- ePO 5.10 Upgrade Best Practice Spotlight video
Watch the ePO 5.10 Upgrade Best Practice Spotlight video, which provides key insights into why we recommend upgrading to ePO 5.10.
- Built-in Pre-Installation Auditor (PIA)
Unlike previous versions, the PIA tool is built into the ePO 5.10 installer MSI, which ensures a higher upgrade success rate. Avoid having to download the PIA tool for ePO 5.9.x and go to the latest ePO 5.10 version.
- Reduced upgrade time
A new data migration feature in ePO 5.10 enables upgrades to complete 65% faster on average when upgrading from ePO 5.3 to 5.10.
For more details, see KB90825 - Migration enhancement introduced in ePolicy Orchestrator 5.10.
- Easier updating
Applying updates to your ePO 5.10 server is easier with our new non-MSI-based update tool. This tool applies the latest fixes to ePO in just a few minutes with a much higher success rate than that of the previous MSI-based updates. ePO 5.10 also introduces a rollback feature for easier removal of an update, whereas a rollback in previous releases requires a disaster recovery to be performed.
- More frequent updates
We release cumulative updates to ePO 5.10 several times a year. By applying the latest available cumulative update, you decrease the chances of encountering known issues.
Review our Cumulative Updater for ePO 5.10 video for instructions on how to obtain and use the ePO updater tool.
