Application and Change Control (ACC) 8.x.x, 7.x.x, 6.x.x

Problem

ACC prevents scanalyzer.exe from writing to scanalysis.bat when running gatherinfo.

Cause

The scanalyzer.exe has two objectives:

Creation of the scanalysis.bat with the rules needed based on the products already installed on the system - It's intended to run before solidifying the system. It needs to be run when you configure ACC, before you solidify or enable it.
Detection of the software installed on the system is to be performed when running gatherinfo

When running gatherinfo, scanalyzer.exe works if the execution order has completed. If scanalysis.bat isn't created, WRITE-DENIED errors occur when gatherinfo runs. This behavior is to be expected because gatherinfo runs scanalysis.exe normally and creates scanalysis.bat while not solidifying it. If scanalysis.bat is created within the time it takes gatherinfo to run, scanalysis.bat is solidified. The .bat file is then tracked and allows changes.

Solution

This behavior is by design and is considered normal.

Workaround

To work around this WRITE_DENIED error, you can add scanalyzer.exe as an updater by running the following command:

sadmin updaters add scanalyzer.exe

NOTE: This workaround corrects the WRITE_DENIED error, but the updated scanalysis.bat doesn't run automatically. Technical Support recommends that you run scanalysis.bat every time installation of any product on the system occurs.
