DLP Discover support for network file system support on file server scans
- File server scans now support the following file server types:
- Common Internet File System (CIFS)
- Server Message Block (SMB)
- Network File System (NFS)
- File server scans are supported on NFS versions 3 and 2.
- The scans run only with Active Directory users, one scan at a time. Multiple user connections from the discover server to NFS shares are currently not supported.
- Users scanning the files must be granted Write permissions to the files path in the directory, in addition to the files permissions.
Limitations
- Preserving a file's last access time isn’t supported in DLP Discover 11.2.
- A remediation scan configured with Classify As or Encrypt RMS reactions changes the file owner to anonymous.
- If an NFS file server has a case-sensitive naming feature enabled, for example, \\Server\SHARE1\ and \\Server\Share1\, this convention must be kept when you create the File Server Repository Definition. The case must match for you to scan shares on the NFS file server.
NOTE: Each share requires a separate Repository Definition. The reason is because the DLP extension doesn’t distinguish between uppercase and lowercase for Uniform Naming Convention (UNC) Path entries in the Repository Definition. It doesn’t allow duplicate entries.
