Management of Native Encryption (MNE) 5.x

Problem

Users might be prompted to confirm their enhanced PIN after upgrading to MNE 5.0 and later, when the Authentication type is as follows:

Trusted Platform Module (TPM)
Enhanced PIN

Cause

To make sure that a system is protected by the correct authentication method, MNE stores the authentication method.

Unfortunately, previous versions of MNE 4.1.5 and earlier did not correctly distinguish between TPM and PIN and TPM and enhanced PIN authentication. The earlier versions recorded both authentication types with the same identifier.

Solution

The MNE 4.x distinguishing issue between TPM and PIN is resolved in MNE 5.0.0. But, users are required to resupply their Enhanced PIN during policy enforcement so that the correct authentication type can be configured.
