Database Index Maintenance task doesn't complete when OrionSchedulerTaskLogDetailMT table index fragmentation is above 30%

Environment

ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) 5.10.0

Problem

The ePO database Index Maintenance task can fail to complete and run indefinitely when fragmentation of OrionSchedulerTaskLogDetailMT is above 30%.

In addition to running indefinitely, the Index Maintenance task can lead to SQL blocking, which has a wide range of symptoms including the following:

Slow console responsiveness
Server tasks failing to complete
Console actions never completing (such as Saving policy)

System Change

You installed or upgraded ePO to version 5.10.0.

Solution

ePolicy Orchestrator 5.10.0 Update 1 was released to support to resolve this issue. This release has now been superseded by a later cumulative ePO 5.10 update release.

The latest ePO 5.10.0 Update is available from the Product Downloads site.

Workaround

As a temporary solution, implement the following:

Disable the ePO database Index maintenance server task to prevent it from starting again.
Close any currently running instances through the ePO Server Task Log.
