System processes fail to start during upgrade of Application and Change Control from 8.1.x to 8.2.0

Application and Change Control (ACC) 8.2.0, 8.1.x

System processes fail to start when you upgrade from ACC 8.1.x to ACC 8.2.0.

NOTE: This issue occurs on all Microsoft Windows x86 versions.

The cause of this issue is that Memory Protection - Critical Address Space Protection (MP-CASP) is enabled during the upgrade process.

This issue has been corrected in ACC 8.2.1.143 (update 3). ACC 8.1.x clients must be upgraded to ACC 8.2.1.143.

Disable MP-CASP before you upgrade to the latest version of ACC.

Managed systems:

Start the ePO console.
Go to Application Control Options, Features.
Click Enforce features control from McAfee ePO, and deselect the MP-CASP option.
Apply policies and restart endpoints.

Unmanaged systems:

After the workaround has been performed, upgrade ACC 8.1.x to ACC 8.2.0. When the upgrade is complete, the MP-CASP option can be re-enabled.
