User is repeatedly prompted to authenticate after entering the correct File and Removable Media Protection authentication parameters

Environment

File and Removable Media Protection (FRP) 5.x

Problem

You see the following sequence of events when a user tries to access an FRP-encrypted USB media, or load FRP encryption keys:

A user is prompted to authenticate
User enters the correct user authentication credential
The FRP authentication prompt is immediately presented again to the user

NOTES:

The user can successfully perform FRP logons on other systems.
Other users can successfully perform FRP logons on the problem system but do not receive the repetitive prompt.

Cause

The C:\ProgramData\McAfee\FRP\FrpClientDb.db file has become corrupt.

Solution

This issue was initially resolved in FRP 5.0.2 Repost build 5.0.2.167, but this package has been removed from the Product Downloads site.

In the ePO Software Manager, only the latest version is available, which is FRP 5.2.0. Customers are advised to upgrade to the latest available version of FRP.

NOTE: This issue was previously resolved with FRP 5.0.2 Hotfix 1164500 (build 5.0.2.160). The hotfix was only Released to Support (RTS), and is no longer available.
