“Endpoint Security detected a threat” message doesn’t display

Environment

Endpoint Security (ENS) Threat Prevention 10.x
McAfee Agent (MA) 5.x

Problem

The Endpoint Security detected a threat message doesn't display on endpoints. This issue occurs when the Show the McAfee system tray icon (Windows only) option isn't selected in the MA General policy.

Cause

This behavior is expected because ENS requires the MA notification area icon for the user interface on endpoints.

Solution

Enable the Show the McAfee system tray icon (Windows only) option:

Log on to the ePO console.
Click Menu, Policy, Policy Catalog.
Select McAfee Agent from the Product drop-down list.
Select General from the Category drop-down list.
Edit the policy that you want to change.
Select Show the McAfee system tray icon (Windows only).
Click Save.
Verify that the MA notification area icon displays.
