Run setup on the primary node of the cluster

ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) 5.x

ePO upgrade fails after you run setup.exe on the primary cluster node.

The error below is displayed during the upgrade:

To upgrade this ePolicy Orchestrator installation, run setup on the primary node of the cluster.

A registry value is present on the primary node that incorrectly identifies it as a secondary node.

The following information is intended for System Administrators. Registry modifications are irreversible and could cause system failure if done incorrectly.
Before proceeding, Technical Support strongly recommends that you back up your registry and understand the restore process. For more information, see the Microsoft Windows registry information for advanced users article.
Do not run a REG file that is not confirmed to be a genuine registry import file.

Press Windows+R, type regedit.exe, and click OK.
Identify whether the following registry values exist. If either or both of the following registry values exist, delete them:
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Network Associates\ePolicy Orchestrator\SecondaryClusterNode
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Wow6432node\Network Associates\ePolicy Orchestrator\SecondaryClusterNode
IMPORTANT: Make sure that you delete the SecondaryClusterNode key. Don’t simply delete the data within the SecondaryClusterNode key; the installer is only looking for the existence of the key itself.
Exit the registry.
Run the installer.
