Summary

IMPORTANT:

Resolidification of a system must be performed after you upgrade any TACC version to TACC 8.2.1 Update 3 or TACC 8.0.2 Update 1 and later. Resolidification must be performed after the upgrade is completed.
Resolidification of a system with TACC installed must be performed after any version upgrade of the Windows operating system. Before upgrading the operating system, place the system in Update mode. After the upgrade completes, place the system back in Enabled mode.

NOTE: With TACC 8.4.0 and later, the client no longer needs to be in UPDATE mode prior to performing a Windows OS upgrade. For more details, see TACC 8.4.0 Release Notes.
If you upgrade the operating system to Windows 10 before you upgrade TACC to 7.x or later, it prevents the Windows 10 driver from loading at startup. The Windows 7 driver is loaded instead.
ACC 7.x is the minimum supported version to run in a Windows 10 Version 1607 (Anniversary Update) environment. TACC must be upgraded to version 7.x before you perform the upgrade to Windows 10.
Before you upgrade to a Windows 10 Version 1703 (Creators Update) environment, Trellix Agent (TA) 5.5.0 minimum and TACC 8.x must be installed.

To upgrade to Windows 10 with TACC deployed, use the following instructions for your version of Windows:

You must upgrade TACC to version 8.3.4 and TA to version 5.7.4 before you perform the upgrade to Windows 11. When TACC and TA are upgraded, follow these steps: Switch TACC to Update mode. Perform the upgrade to Windows 11. Run the Solidification task. End Update mode.
Windows 7	Windows 10 Version 1607 (Anniversary Update) to Windows 10 Version 1709 (Fall Creators Update)	6.2.x, 7.x, or 8.x	6.2.x, 7.x, or 8.x	Switch TACC to Update mode. Disable the Memory Protection feature (sadmin features disable MP). Disable the Script as Updater (SAU) feature (sadmin features disable SAU). Perform the upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10. Upgrade TACC using the Windows 10 installer.^{1, 2} NOTE: The Solidcore service might still be running on Windows upgrade. Technical Support recommends reinstallation with the proper Windows installer for Solidcore Agent because some features might not work until the proper agent is installed. Reboot the system. Run the Solidification task.¹ Enable SAU (sadmin features enable SAU). Enable Memory-Protection (sadmin features enable MP). Reboot. End Update mode.
Windows 7	Windows 10 Version 1803 (April 2018 Update)	8.1.x	8.1.x	To perform an operating system upgrade to Windows 10 Version 1803 (April 2018 Update) with TACC, you must follow these steps: Install or upgrade the TACC extension to versions 8.1.0.129 or later in ePO. Uninstall TACC from the client: Create a client product deployment task in ePO. Select Solidcore Client for Windows from the Products and components drop-down list. Set the action to Remove and push the task to all endpoints. NOTE: TACC must be disabled before you can remove it from the client. Perform the operating system upgrade to Windows 10 Version 1803 (April 2018 Update). Install TACC 8.1.0.179 or later: Check in the TACC client package to ePO. Create the client product deployment task in ePO. Select Solidcore Client for Windows from the Products and components drop-down list. Set the action as Install and push the task to all endpoints.
Windows 8 or 8.1	Windows 10 Version 1607 (Anniversary Update)	7.x or 8.x	7.x or 8.x	Switch to Update mode. Upgrade to Windows 10. Run the Solidification task.² End Update mode.
Windows 10 Version 1607 (Anniversary Update)	Windows 10 Version 1703 (Creators Update)	8.x	8.x	IMPORTANT: Resolidification of the system is required after performing Windows Updates. It must be performed after the upgrade is complete. IMPORTANT: TACC 8.x and TA 5.5.0 are the minimum supported versions to run in a Windows 10 Version 1703 (Creators Update) environment. You must upgrade TACC to version 8.x and TA to version 5.5.0 before you perform the upgrade to Windows 10 Version 1703 (Creators Update). When TACC and TA have been upgraded, follow these steps: Switch TACC to Update mode. Perform the upgrade from Windows 10 Version 1607 (Anniversary Update) to Windows 10 Version 1703 (Creators Update). Run the Solidification task. End Update mode.
Windows 10 1703 (Creators update) or any other version of Windows 10	Windows 10 (All Versions)	8.x	8.x	IMPORTANT: Resolidification of the system is required after performing Windows Updates. It must be performed after the upgrade is complete. IMPORTANT: TACC 8.x and TA 5.5 are the minimum supported versions to run in a Windows 10 Version 1703 (Creators Update) environment. You must upgrade TACC to version 8.x and TA to version 5.5.0 before you perform the upgrade to Windows 10 Version 1703 (Creators Update). When TACC and TA are upgraded, follow these steps: Switch TACC to Update mode. Perform the upgrade to Windows 10. Run the Solidification task. End Update mode.

¹	The TACC installer packages for Windows 7 and Windows 10 are different. Use the operating system-specific installers to deploy TACC on Windows 7 and Windows 10.
²	Required only with an Application Control license, not with a Change Control license.
