How to upgrade the Net Optics AFO Kit from version 2.4.0 to 2.4.3

Environment

Network Security Platform (NSP) Sensor - Active Fail Open Kit

Summary

NOTE: This article is only for a Net Optics version 2.4.0 upgrade to 2.4.3. All other scenarios are excluded.

Problem

You see one or more of the following issues with the Net Optics AFO Kit Upgrade:

When it performs Link down/up tests, the AFO Kit doesn't propagate the up/down signal.
When you perform a power reset, the light indicators fail to provide any indication of a power reset.
When the fiber optic leads are unplugged from port 1 and 2, the AFO Kit doesn't enter the bypass status.

Solution

Firmware version 2.4.3 has been tested and approved for field upgrade and is attached to this article (i10gBypass_2_4_3.zip).

Requirements:

Serial connection to the AFO Kit only.
Microsoft Windows PC host that can be pinged from the AFO Kit.

Download the Net Optics recommended HTTP File Server (HFS).
Install the file server to the Microsoft Windows host that can be pinged from the AFO Kit.
Configure the HFS server:
1. Create a folder named Images on your Windows host.
2. Download the .zip file attached to this article.
3. Extract the .zip file to the Images folder.
4. In the HFS server, create a folder named Images, click Menu, and select Add folder from the Disk option.
5. Select the folder Images where you placed the extracted files.
6. When prompted, select the Real folder option.
7. From the folder Images, drag and drop the four files to the Images folder on the HFS server.
  
  NOTE: Don't include the README file.
8. Configure the Port setting to 7000:
  1. Click the Port tab.
  2. In the pop-up window, set the configuration to port 7000.
Log on to the AFO Kit command-line interface and do the following:
1. Type web url <IP address of Windows Host PC host> and press Enter.
  
  NOTE: This address is the IP address of the HFS server.
2. Type web port <port number> and press Enter.
  Example: web port 7000
3. Type web file /<filename>.html and press Enter.
  
  NOTE: <filename> is the target html file, hosted on the HFS Web File Server, such as i10gBypass_2_4_3.html. The / (forward slash) before <filename> is required.
  Example: web file /i10gBypass_2_4_3.html
4. View the new configuration by typing show web and pressing Enter.
5. Start the software download from the HFS Web file server to the AFO Kit by typing web download and pressing Enter.

Related Information

To display the AFO configuration, type show set and press Enter.

To display the current firmware version, type show version and press Enter.

To display the download parameters, type show web and press Enter.

To display the current AFO setting, type show set and press Enter.
